A self-assessment approach to weight management
If you do have a problem with your weight, stop beating yourself up over it.  Being fat is not the end of the world.  It is simple a consequence of careless eating habits and an inactive lifestyle.
Even if you have tried every diet on the planet and failed, by changing your lifestyle and putting a few bad dietary habits in check, you can achieve your weight loss goal. 
For successful weight management, it is important that you first address these 6 factors listed below:
How much and what kind of food you eat
Whether your lifestyle includes regular activity or exercise
Whether you use food to respond to stress and other situations
Your physiological and genetic make-up
Your age
Your health status or condition
Successful weight management depends on sensible goals and expectations. When you set reasonable weight-loss goals, change your eating habits, and exercise regularly, you will find the balance to maintain your body weight. Also, don't become obsessed with the caloric value of everything you eat.  Instead, it is much better to portion size the amount of food you consume daily and check the food labels to see if the food contains unnecessary additives, high sugar, hydrogenated fats, high  cholesterol and sodium content.  And, of course, follow a suitable exercise program to permanently manage your weight.
Finally, make sure you check with your doctor that your health status or condition allows you to exercise. Especially, if you are suffering from any ongoing health problems or you take regular medication.
